DEDICATED TO OUR COMMUNITY
Kaia is a life-long Bay Area resident who was born in Redwood City and grew up on the Peninsula. She attended local public schools including Woodside High School in Redwood City. She graduated from College of Notre Dame in Belmont with a degree in English Literature and received a JD from U.C. Davis.
Kaia’s father was a founding faculty member at Canada College when it opened in 1968. Her parents instilled in her a lifelong love of learning and a reverence for public service.
During her legal career, Kaia served as counsel in the field of workers compensation. This work included representation of several national non-profits. Inspired by their mission to serve the public, Kaia began working directly for several local non-profits including social service organizations, Notre Dame de Namur University, and Project READ. For the last 6 years, Kaia has worked for the San Mateo County History Museum as a fundraiser.
Kaia and her husband, Bryan, have lived in the Redwood Oaks neighborhood for 20 years. They enjoy hiking and bicycling on weekends and travelling where Bryan indulges his love of photography. They love to entertain in their home.
Over the last 15 years they have helped raise a beautiful brother and sister as CASA volunteers. They have become part of their extended family. Kaia relishes time with 4 generations of her family including uncles, aunts, sisters, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
As soon as they moved back to Redwood City in the early aughts, Kaia was inspired to weigh in on issues involving her neighborhood and city. She often attended City Council meetings, and worked with other community members to learn more about topics affecting the region. The more she learned the more she gained respect and admiration for the place she is proud to call home.
